EN 14126: Protective clothing against infectious agents
This standard specifies the requirements and test methods for reusable and limited-use protective clothing against infectious agents.
Performance requirements for material
- Mechanical requirements and flammability requirements (chemical requirements, if applicable) shall be tested and graded in accordance with the test methods and grading system for performance specified in the relevant sections of EN14325.
- Performance requirements for resistance to penetration by infectious agents shall be tested by the following tests:
- Resistance to penetration of contaminated liquids under hydrostatic pressure.
- Resistance to penetration of infectious agents due to mechanical contact with substances containing contaminated liquids.
- Resistance to penetration of contaminated liquid aerosols.
- Resistance to penetration of contaminated solid particles.
Performance requirement for seams, joints and bondings
Seams, joints and trusses for protective clothing against infectious agents shall be tested and classified in accordance with the requirements of the relevant clauses of EN 14325.
Whole coverall requirement
Protective clothing against infectious agents must meet the relevant requirements of EN340 (general for protective clothing) as well as the requirements for the whole coverall specified in the relevant standard for chemical protective clothing.
Labelling
The clothing must be labelled in accordance with the applicable requirements of the relevant standard for chemical protective clothing .
The labelling for protective clothing against infectious agents must include the following additional information :
- The number of this European Standard.
- The type of protective clothing with the annex letter "B".
- The pictogram for biological hazard,
