DIN EN 13034:2005+A1:2009: Protective clothing against liquid chemicals - Performance requirements for chemical protective clothing with limited protective performance against liquid chemicals
(Type 6 and Type PB equipment [6])
Scope of application
This standard specifies the minimum requirements for fliquid-tight, reusable chemical protective coveralls and those for limited use (Type 6). They provide limited protection against exposure to fluid aerosols, spray and light splashes where the risk of chemical exposure has been assessed as low and the nature of the potential exposure, spray, mist etc. is defined as low risk. Such garments may be full body protective garments such as one-piece coveralls or two-piece suits with or without bonnets or visors, with or without booties or shoe covers, and may be worn with or without respiratory protective equipment.
Performance requirements for material
Materials for chemical protective clothing must be tested and classified according to the following requirements and in accordance with the test methods specified in EN 14325.
Performance requirement for seams, joints and trusses
Resistance to penetration by liquids
Seams shall be designed to prevent the penetration of liquids through stitch holes or other components of a seam
Seam strength
Performance shall be graded in accordance with EN 14325:2004, 5.5 (Table 13) indicated performance levels. A minimum strength of performance level 1 shall be achieved for seams.
Requirement for the whole coverall
Type 6 chemical protective coveralls shall meet the requirements of EN340 (general for protective clothing)
Resistance to penetration of liquids (spray test) is carried out by test persons in accordance with EN 468.
Marking
- The name, trademark for identification of the manufacturer.
- The manufacturer's type number or model number.
- Class: Type 6
- The number of this European standard
- Size according to EN 340
- A manufacturer's information leaflet shall be supplied with each smallest commercial package
- Pictogram indicating that the clothing is intended for protection against chemicals and pictogram indicating that the manufacturer's instructions for use and any further information must be read.
