Description
Protective gowns for handling cytostatic drugs and for applications with heightened infection control requirements. The Zytex® material provides a reliable barrier against contaminated liquids, particles, and biological hazards.
The IsoCoat Zytex® REF 435 was developed for demanding applications where infection control and the safe handling of cytostatic drugs are paramount. Its all-around protective design and specially developed Zytex® material provide a reliable barrier in sensitive medical and pharmaceutical work areas.
The protective gown is made of an SMS-PP nonwoven fabric with a PE coating and is classified as both Category III PPE and a Class I medical device. Certification according to EN 13034 Type PB [6]-B confirms protection against liquid chemicals with limited protective performance, while EN 14126 verifies protection against blood, viruses, bacteria, contaminated particles, and liquid aerosols. The material was additionally tested for the permeation of cytostatic drugs in accordance with EN ISO 6529 and achieved a breakthrough time of over 480 minutes (EN Class 6) for cytostatic drugs (5 mg/ml). The gown is fastened at the neck with ties, while latex-free elastic knit cuffs and a drawstring belt ensure a secure fit and reliable coverage. Its high mechanical strength is demonstrated by a flexural tear resistance of 100,000 cycles, a tear strength of over 30 N, and a seam strength of over 50 N. Against 30% sulfuric acid and 10% sodium hydroxide, repellency indices of over 90% and penetration indices of less than 1% were achieved. In the area of infection control, resistance to the penetration of infectious agents through mechanical contact for over 75 minutes (EN Class 6) was demonstrated, among other things. The lab coat is expressly not suitable for handling o-xylene, butan-1-ol, or other organic chemicals.
