What does DACH do with my personal data?
DACH processes personal data exclusively in accordance with the relevant legal provisions and only as described in this document.
To the extent that the processing of your personal data is based on a lawful authorisation, the section ‘Data use based on lawful authorisation’ contains information on which personal data DACH processes or uses for which purposes.
To the extent that your consent is required for the processing of your personal data, you will find further information in the section ‘Data use with your consent’.
Term of processing
To the extent that DACH processes and uses your personal data on the basis of a legal authorization or within the scope of your consent, DACH will store your personal data
- only for as long as the purposes set out below require, or
- until you object to DACH's use of your personal data (to the extent that DACH has a legitimate interest in using your personal data) or
- until you withdraw your consent (to the extent that you have consented to DACH's use of your personal data).
However, to the extent that DACH is required by law to retain your personal data for a longer period of time or DACH needs your personal data to assert or defend against legal claims, DACH will retain your personal data until the relevant retention period has expired or the claims have been settled.
Why do I have to provide personal data?
You do not have to.
Generally, giving consent or providing personal data is voluntary.
If you do not give consent or provide personal data, this will generally not have any adverse effect on you.
There are times, however, when DACH cannot operate without certain personal data, for example because this personal data is needed to process your orders or to give you access to areas of this website or a newsletter.
In such cases, DACH cannot provide you with what you want without the relevant personal data.
Where is my personal data processed?
DACH processes personal data only on servers located in the European Union.
Rights of data subjects
You may at any time request from DACH information about what personal data DACH is processing about you and the correction or deletion of such personal data.
However, DACH may only delete your personal data if there is no legal obligation to retain it or DACH has an overriding right to retain it.
However, once you have requested that your personal data be deleted, you will no longer be able to use any DACH services that require the use of your personal data.

- if you claim that the personal data held by DACH about you is inaccurate (but only for as long as DACH needs to verify the accuracy of the personal data concerned),
- if there is no legal basis for DACH to process your personal data and you request that DACH ceases to process your personal data,
- if DACH no longer needs your personal data but you claim that DACH needs to continue to hold that data to enable you to bring or exercise legal claims or defend against claims by third parties; or
- if you object to DACH processing your personal data (on the basis of DACH's legitimate interest as described in Section B below) for as long as the assessment of DACH's overriding interest in processing your personal data or a legal obligation to retain it requires.
Right of appeal
If you believe that DACH is not processing your personal data in accordance with the requirements described herein or with the data protection laws applicable in the EEA, you may at any time lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of the EEA member state in which you reside or with the data protection authority of the country or state in which DACH has its registered office.

Data use based on legal permission
In the following cases, DACH is permitted to process your personal data based on applicable data protection laws.
Providing the goods or services requested
When you order goods or services from DACH, DACH will use the personal data you provide on the order or registration form (usually the following information or part thereof: your name, (e-mail) address, telephone number, company name and address, job title or role and, if payment is to be made to DACH, your credit card number or bank details), solely for the purpose of processing your order or providing you with the goods or services requested.
This may include initiating a contract, answering your questions, sending you shipping and billing information, and processing or providing customer feedback and support.
Also, this may include chat or conversation data that you may generate via the chat functions on dach-germany.de, in contact forms, emails or telephone calls.
The term ‘goods and services’ includes web services, offers, contests, sweepstakes, other content, non-marketing newsletters, white papers, tutorials, training, and DACH events, and access thereto.
If you participate in learning programmes or training provided by DACH, DACH may also track your learning progress in order to provide you with this information.
In addition, we communicate by email with users who subscribe to our services, as well as by telephone when dealing with customer complaints or investigating suspicious activity.
DACH may use your email address to confirm your account opening, to send payment notifications, to notify you of changes to DACH products and services, and to send legally required notices and other disclosures.
Marketing information by email or telephone, where required by law, will only be sent to you by DACH if you have given your consent and given you the opportunity to opt out of this type of communication. Justified interest of DACH
In the following cases, DACH has a legitimate interest in processing or using your personal data.

In this case, DACH will stop using your personal data for the purposes set out above (i.e. on the basis of legitimate interest as described above) and remove it from its systems, unless DACH is permitted to use such personal data for another purpose set out in this Privacy Policy or DACH establishes and can demonstrate a compelling legitimate interest in continuing to process your personal data.

Data protection information on social plugins
Our website uses plugins of social networks (Twitter, Facebook, etc.).
Every time a web page of our internet presence is called up that is provided with such a plugin, the plugin transmits data. In the process, the social network server is informed which particular web page of our internet presence you are currently visiting as well as other data such as your IP address. We have no influence on this.

Creating user profiles
DACH offers you the opportunity to use DACH's web services, such as forums, blogs and networks, for which you must register and create a user profile. A user profile allows you to display personal information about yourself to other users, including your name, photo, social networking accounts, postal and/or email address, phone number, personal interests, skills and basic business information.
However, it is always possible to register and create a user profile.
However, it is always up to you which of these you use.
Without your consent to create such user profiles, DACH will not be able to provide you with services where your consent is a legal requirement.
Within a web service, your profile will be used beyond the mere provision of access to personalise interaction with other users (such as via messaging features) and by DACH to improve the quality of communication.
Special categories of personal data
In connection with registering for and providing access to an event or seminar, DACH may ask you to provide certain information about your health in order to accommodate the needs of people with disabilities or certain dietary requirements during the event, if applicable.
The use of such information may involve the use of personal data about you.
The use of such information by DACH is based on consent given by you.
Event data
When you register for a DACH event, seminar or webinar, DACH may share basic attendee information (your name, company and email address) with other attendees at the same event for the purpose of exchanging information and ideas.
Revocation of consent given
You can revoke a given consent at any time at https://www.dach-germany.de/optout.
In the event of withdrawal, DACH will no longer process the personal data to which the consent applied, unless DACH is required to do so by law.
If DACH is required by law to retain your personal data, further processing of your personal data will be limited accordingly and the data will only be retained for the retention period required by law.
A revocation will have no effect on DACH's past processing of personal data up to the time of revocation.
DACH may not (or may no longer) provide you with a service that requires your consent after your revocation.
