First off, what is the Supply Chain Act?
The Supply Chain Act (LkSG) obliges companies to take responsibility for complying with human rights standards throughout their entire global supply chains. It aims to combat issues such as child labor or environmental destruction by requiring companies to exercise due diligence in monitoring their suppliers and reporting on their actions.
Many assume that the new Supply Chain Act, which came into effect on January 1, 2023, only affects large corporations with more than 1000 employees. We at DACH see it differently. As a medium-sized company with fewer than 1000 employees, we could assume that we are outside the scope of the law. However, reality shows that as part of the supply chain of larger companies, we are indirectly affected. Moreover, our commitment to human rights and environmental protection is a core part of our identity, not just a reaction to legal requirements.
Regardless of a company's size, it is clear: Standards in terms of human rights and environmental protection are not just decorative accessories, but a must-have! It is a matter of ethics, not company size.
For medium-sized companies like us, it is crucial to be proactive now and take responsibility beyond the legal requirements. This not only demonstrates our commitment to society and the environment but also strengthens our market positioning and our relationships with business partners.
